When You’re Overwhelmed and Trying Not to Fall Apart

Some days I don’t feel “busy.”

I feel buried.

Buried under laundry.
Buried under expectations.
Buried under the pressure to hold everything together.

The kids need something.
The house needs something.
The bills need something.
My husband needs something.

And if I’m honest?

I need something too.

But most days, I push that to the bottom of the list.

Because that’s what moms do, right?

We keep going.
We keep fixing.
We keep carrying.

Until our chest feels tight and our patience runs thin.

Until we snap at the kids.
Until we lie awake at night replaying everything.
Until we start believing the lie that we’re not doing enough.

I’ve had those nights.

The house is quiet, but my mind is loud.
I’m exhausted, but I can’t rest.
I pray — but it feels rushed.

And sometimes I’ve whispered,
“God, I can’t keep doing this.”

Maybe you’ve said that too.

Overwhelm Doesn’t Mean You’re Failing

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Overwhelm is not a sign that you’re weak.

It’s a sign that you care deeply.

You love your kids.
You want to be a good wife.
You want your home to feel peaceful.
You want to honor God.

That’s not failure.

That’s a tender heart carrying too much.

Psalm 61:2 says:

“When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

Notice it doesn’t say if.

It says when.

God already knew there would be days like this.

Days when you feel stretched thin.
Days when you feel like you’re dropping every ball.
Days when you just need peace.

And He didn’t shame you for it.

He offered Himself as your refuge.

But What Do You Actually Pray When You’re This Tired?

That’s the hard part.

When you’re overwhelmed, even praying can feel overwhelming.

You don’t know where to start.
You don’t know what to say.
You don’t even know what you’re feeling.

You just know it’s heavy.

That’s why I created something simple.

Not a huge study.
Not something that adds pressure.

Just five honest prayers for the real-life moments when everything feels like too much.
