There have been days lately where I’ve felt behind.
Behind on blog posts.
Behind on products.
Behind on growth.
Behind on the big dream of retiring my husband.
And when you’re a Christian mom trying to build something while raising kids, managing a house, and healing from your past… “behind” can feel heavy.
But here’s what God has been whispering to me:
Slowed down isn’t stopped.
Just because you got sick… doesn’t mean you’re disqualified.
Just because your website broke… doesn’t mean your calling did.
Just because anxiety showed up… doesn’t mean God left.
Sometimes God slows us down to strengthen us.
When Life Hits Pause
I’ve had seasons where I thought,
“Maybe this isn’t what I’m supposed to be doing.”
Maybe you’ve thought that too.
When growth doesn’t happen fast.
When money isn’t coming in yet.
When the house is loud and the to-do list is louder.
But slowing down doesn’t mean failure.
It means you’re human.
Even Jesus rested.
And sometimes what feels like delay is actually protection.
The Lie of “Falling Behind”
The enemy loves to whisper:
“You’re late.”
“You missed your moment.”
“You’re not cut out for this.”
But God doesn’t operate on panic.
Psalm 27:14 says:
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Waiting isn’t weakness.
It’s trust.
The Work Is Still Working
Maybe your progress feels invisible.
You’re writing when no one is reading yet.
You’re praying when you don’t feel anything.
You’re building something small and wondering if it matters.
It does.
Roots grow underground before trees grow tall.
Just because people don’t see it doesn’t mean God isn’t growing it.
For the Mom Who Feels Behind
If you’re reading this thinking:
“I should be further.”
“I should be stronger.”
“I should be better by now.”
Take a breath.
You are not behind in God’s plan.
You are in process.
Healing takes time.
Building takes time.
Motherhood takes everything.
And still — God uses it all.
My Reminder (And Maybe Yours Too)
I am not stopped.
I am being strengthened.
I am not behind.
I am being built.
And so are you.
Slowed down isn’t stopped.
God isn’t done with your story.
💛 What Helps Me When I Feel Slowed Down
When I feel behind, discouraged, or mentally overwhelmed, I don’t try to “hustle harder.”
I anchor myself.
Here are a few things I personally recommend that help me reset when life feels heavy:
📖 1. NIV Bible
If I’m spiraling, I need clarity — not confusion.
A good study Bible helps me understand what I’m reading instead of just flipping pages and hoping something sticks. The NLT Study Bible breaks things down in a way that feels real and understandable.

📓 2. Guided Prayer Journal for Women
Blank pages overwhelm my ADHD brain.
A guided Christian prayer journal with prompts helps me focus my thoughts instead of bouncing all over the place. It gives structure when my mind feels chaotic.
👉 I found one I really like here:
🎧 3. “Get Out of Your Head” by Jennie Allen
This book hits when your thoughts won’t shut up.
It talks about breaking free from spiraling thoughts and taking them captive — which is something I constantly work on as a mom and a believer.

🕯 4. Simple Scripture Wall Art for Your Home
Sometimes slowing down starts with your atmosphere.
Having a simple scripture reminder on the wall where I see it daily shifts my heart when I’m feeling behind or defeated. Little visual reminders matter more than we think.
